Designated evacuation sites
Municipalities designate evacuation sites per hazard. A site designated for an earthquake may not be designated for a tsunami. Pick what is happening.
- Where to go during 指定緊急避難場所 — Designated to escape immediate danger while it is happening.
- Where to stay after 指定避難所 — Designated for staying when you cannot go home. Often a different building.

The data exists and is public. 国土地理院 publishes every municipality’s designated evacuation sites, per hazard, with coordinates. It has not been imported yet.
Nothing here is a placeholder for something we intend to write ourselves. Every site on this page, when there are any, will be a municipality’s own designation, reproduced. We do not decide where anybody should go and we do not write evacuation advice.

Published by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (国土地理院) under 公共データ利用規約 1.0. We have filtered and re-rendered the data; the designations are the municipalities’, not ours.
Coverage is not all of Japan. The publisher states that facilities may exist which are not disclosed at a municipality’s request. An absence here is not evidence that a place has no designated site. Ask your municipality.
